Project Overview
Grainger Contracting & Services completed pavement repairs on a 1-mile stretch of Purple Heart Drive at Dover Air Force Base, Delaware, restoring a critical access roadway used daily to support base operations. The project addressed deteriorated pavement conditions and focused on improving safety, ride quality, and long-term durability while meeting United States Air Force standards for performance and workmanship.

All work was performed on an active military installation under strict access and operational constraints. Our team complied with all Dover AFB regulations, entry and escort requirements, security protocols, and base-specific work rules throughout execution. This included coordinating personnel access, staging, and material deliveries to align with installation procedures, as well as maintaining clear communication to ensure the work remained compatible with ongoing mission activity and traffic flow.
Because the roadway remained in active use, careful sequencing was essential. We planned and executed the work to minimize disruption, maintain safe travel paths, and protect both base personnel and the traveling public during operations. The result was a clean, service-ready roadway surface delivered in a controlled, compliant manner, supporting continued mission readiness and improving day-to-day transportation across the base.
